Opportunities for churches to participate in a monumental crusade in Africa May 23-30
The Zambezi River flows through sub-Saharan Africa separating Zimbabwe and
Zambia before flowing over Victoria Falls. This region is one of the most
beautiful and yet most tragic areas on the African continent. This is where Dr.
David Livingstone first brought the Gospel to the Tonga tribe in 1855.
The tragedy of this region is well known. Over one-third of all adults are infected with HIV/AIDS. In just ten years the average lifespan has dropped from 65 years to a staggering 34 years of age and children are being orphaned by the hundreds of thousands. Today, this region needs the gospel message more than ever.
This May, from the center of this heartbreaking crisis the church will unite for Victoria Falls for Jesus, a weeklong evangelistic outreach to proclaim the Name of Christ and call Africa to salvation. Over one hundred churches are taking part in this mammoth crusade for Jesus – a first time ever event for the region.

On Sunday, May 23 Christians will meet at their churches for morning worship (see list of participating churches and ministries). Then, carrying banners and placards, they will march through the villages, singing praises as they make their way to the soccer stadium in the city of Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. A crowd of 30,000 is expected to fill the stadium to launch this week of evangelism. It will continue through the week at many locations in Zimbabwe and in Zambia just across the Zambezi River. The outreach ends on May 30. Over 50,000 are expected to be reached the with the gospel message during Victoria Falls for Jesus.
Victoria Falls for Jesus coinciding with Africa Day, a National Day of
Prayer
On May 25 much of the African continent celebrates Africa Day. Four years ago
Rev. John Chiabambo of Intercessors for Zimbabwe and Mike van Vuuren of
Operation Mobilization began a successful effort to have the day recognized in
Zimbabwe as a National Day of Prayer. The National Day of Prayer on Africa Day
has now become and annual event.
In 2004 Africa Day the National Day of Prayer occurs during Victoria Falls for Jesus and will see the church united and mobilized like never before. The Spirit of God is moving through churches all over the region. The response has been thrilling to witness. The stadium is booked and confirmed. The platforms, decor, chairs, canopies, etc. have been ordered and confirmed. Discipleship training has already begun in churches over the region. The mayors of Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe and Livingstone, Zambia, both committed Christians, are giving their full support. Victoria Falls for Jesus will be a victorious event for Africa.
Opportunities are available for Christians or church groups throughout the world
to participate in this extraordinary event. Contact ROCK of Africa Mission for
further details (VF4J@ROCKofAfrica.org).
